Daily Breakfast
One of the biggest things I hear from women is 'I run out of things to eat' or 'I don't have time to come up with something'. My biggest answer to this is: Find a staple meal/snacks and STICK to them! It is only because the grocery stores offer hundreds of options ($$$ for them) that we THINK we need 100's of new options to keep us satisfied! The best tip I can give is find a food that fits in your caloric/protein goal and eat it more days of the week than not. BONUS to make this tip even better, is find a few 'swappable foods' in that meal that don't alter the calories too much, so that you can easily switch something out to change it up! Let me give you some examples:
My protein shake that I have every morning has 2 scoops of chocolate protein and a handful of strawberries. I could switch the strawberries out for banana to completley change the flavor. Or, I could use vanilla protein instead and have a full strawberry shake! View my full breakfast shake recipe HERE (only add the Brewers Yeast if you are nursing).
Another example is what I am sharing today - my breakfast tacos! 2 of these Mission brand mini tortillas add up to 50 calories. I also know that 1 Thin-Slice of Daves Killer Bread is 70 calories (not a big enough difference for me to track), or I know that 1 Xtreme Wellness Wrap if 50 calories. So in the morning, I can decide which I am craving (or which I have on hand) to pair with my eggs + fruit, to have a different taste. Also, adding things like Laughing Cow Cheese Wedge (25 calories) changes the flavor from Spicy Pepper Jack (add hot sauce to the wrap) or Garlic (add green onion to the wrap) can change the flavor of your breakfast so much, while still keeping the nutrition facts about the same!
It is important that you find foods you can have in your day, because we ALL require different amounts of foods based on our age, height, weight, and goal. We all have preferences that differ - some women have time to cook more and want to eat often, while some only can find time to eat 2x a day so they have to pack more calories in at each meal! Nutrition is not one size fits all and I hope this inspires you to find some staples to cycle through in your daily routine.
BREAKFAST WRAP:
2 Eggs
Dano's Seasoning *This is the BEST 'Everything' seasoning I have ever had. It has a good crunch to it. If you are local, I get it at Murray Supply or here is the Amazon link.
Green onion (or any veggies you want to add)
2 Mini Mission Tortillas
Fruit (side)
Cook your eggs (with desired veggies) and place them into wraps, wrapping them like a taco. Spray your skillet that you cooked the eggs in and put your tacos back in it for 10-20 seconds each side, to brown and crisp the wrap. Add any extra toppings such as cheese, sour cream, sauces like hot sauce, salsa or light mayo, and enjoy with a side of fruit to start your day!
