Ninja Creami Review
At the beginning of the summer, we bought a Ninja Creami as a combined birthday gift to one another and I was so committed to not be intimidated by it (which is so common for new, larger kitchen items!)
A Ninja Creami is a Ninja brand machine that turns your frozen concoctions into an ice-cream texture... and I am here to say, it really does!
I have had (and still do) many trial and errors with it because I am interested in creating more natural recipes. Many have turned out 'too icy', 'too protein tasty', etc. But once I have found the groove, the results are SO worth being able to enjoy a HUGE portion (and I mean huge) of 'ice cream' for much lower calorie and higher protein than what you would buy at the store.
Here Is the exact one I bought: AMAZON LINK
THINGS I HAVE LEARNED ALONG THE WAY!
You DO Have to plan in advance because your creation has to be frozen prior to putting it in the creami. They recommend 24 hours, but I have found if I do it the morning/late morning of the day I want to enjoy - it is ready by supper time.
They sell extra cups, which I recommend grabbing a set, so that you can prep all of your weeks ice creams and freeze them at once. Pull out as you crave it! I got a set with colored lids so I can easily keep flavors separated.
FOR THE BASE
Choose some type of milk for your base most of the time. I have been choosing unsweet almond milk.
You could use Fairlife, Muscle milk, or regular milk if you are looking for even more protein and thickness.
I have found that cottage cheese gives AMAZING consistency! It makes the ice-cream so thick and 'scoop-able'. I despise the taste of cottage cheese on its own, but using just about 1/2 cup your mixture, and masking with a flavor like Hershey's cooca or PBFit powder- you do not taste a bit of it. You do want to BLEND it, not just stir it, to break up the chunks. I also use cottage cheese, blended, in my protein queso recipe and I can honestly say it may be my favorite healthier recipe to date! Just try it and trust me!! SEE THE QUESO RECIPE HERE!
FLAVORS
A few of my favorite more natural things to use to make flavors are protein (I use Arbonne), Hershey's cocoa powder, pure vanilla extract, frozen fruit, cinnamon, PBFit powder, and almond butter.
If you are not worried about artificial sweeteners - Swerve sugar and sugar free jello pudding packets would be a great way to sweeten.
Overall, I would totally recommend the creami if you are someone who is interested in sweets, but looking to live a healthier lifestyle. Once I got past the barrier of learning how it works, I really do use it multiple times per week!
I have multiple recipes uploaded to my boot campers - and new added each round - or be sure you are keeping up with my social media channels where I will post videos of the creations!
